현재 각 사회에서의 민주주의의 상황은 경제주의의 확산을 통해 그 실질적 실현이 위축되고 종교적 근본주의 내지 민족주의적 호소 등과 같은 이념적 도그마의 확산과 인종주의적·민속적 배제 경향성의 증가 그리고 사회 내 소수자 집단에 대한 혐오 등으로 그 실현이 유보되어 있다. 이 같은 민주주의의 무기력에 대항해 실질적인 실현 동력이 마련되어야 하는 상황에서 이 글에서는 ‘비판(Kritik)’과 ‘수행성(Performativität)’의 관점에 주목하고자 한다. 이는 비판이 민주주의의 원칙을 실현하는 최종심급에서의 전망을 투사할 수 있게 하고 또한 이 투사된 전망을 실현하는 추동력은 수행성을 통해 마련될 수 있다고 보기 때문이다. 이와 관련해 세 철학자 곧 무페와 랑시에르 그리고 호네트가 선행적 시도를 하고 있는 것으로 간주될 수 있고 그들의 이론은 민주주의의 실현 가능성을 새롭게 파악하는데 주요한 참조가 된다.
The current situation of democracy in each society is that the actual realization is shrinked through the spread of economicism, the spread of ideological dogma such as religious fundamentalism, the increase of racist and ethnic exclusion, The realization of democracy is reserved because of the such hatreds. In this context, we should pay attention to the point of view of Kritik and Performativität . This is because ‘Kritik’ can project the prospects of the final solution of the realization of the principle of democracy and because the impetus for realizing this prospect can be provided through Performativität . In this regard, Mouffe, Rancière, and Honneth, are perceived as the philosophers for a preliminary attempt and their theories can be a major reference to the feasibility of democracy.
