요한계시록에 나타난 숫자의 상징적 의미 고찰

The considerations of symbolic meanings of numbers in the Book of Revelation

요한계시록은 해석이 어려운 성경 중의 하나로 알려져 있다. 특별히 오늘날 한국교회는 재물과 쾌락을 앞세운 세속주의의 영향으로 많은 어려움에 봉착해 있다. 이럴 때에 묵시문헌으로 분류되어 묵시로 읽혀졌던 요한계시록을 예언적 종말론의 관점에서 고찰하는 것은 성도들이 종말을 맞이하는 준비로 이 세상을 살아가는 자세의 근거를 제공한다는 점에서 매우 유익하다. 이 연구에서는 요한계시록에 들어 있는 숫자들의 상징적 의미를 고찰하고자 한다. 추구 연구를 통해 예언적 종말론의 관점에서 성도에게 주는 윤리적 권면의 언어를 되새겨 보기 위한 연구의 출발로서도 의의가 있을 것이다.

It is known to us that the Book of Revelation was one of Bible hard to interpret. Especially Korean Church confronted many difficulties according to influential secularism that has aimed for money and pleasures. The Book of Revelation has been classified and read as apocalyptic literature. But it is very desirable that we think about the Book of revelation as proleptic eschatology, because such efforts provide many christians to prepare the end of days in the world. This article is an attempt to consider about symbolic meanings of numbers in the Book of Revelation. I think that after study about symbolic meanings of numbers in the Book of revelation according to the perspective of proleptic eschatology is very important, because that study will suggest ethical norms to live for Christians.
