The Effects of Safety Education Programs: A Meta-analysis

이 연구의 목적은 안전교육 프로그램의 전반적인 효과와 효과에 영향을 줄 수 있는 조절변인을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해, 국내에서 유아 및 학생을 대상으로 안전교육 프로그램을 실시하고 효과를 알아본 실험연구 25편을 선정하여 메타분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 전체 25편의 연구 중 1편의 연구를 제외한 모든 연구들의 효과크기가 유의한 것으로 나타났으며, 전체 효과크기는 0.896(95% CI = 0.712~1.080)이었다. 안전교육 프로그램이 조절변인에 따라 효과크기의 차이를 보이는지를 알아본 결과, 안전교육 주제 중 화재안전교육의 효과크기가 가장 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 대상자 학교급에 따른 효과크기의 차이를 알아본 결과 영유아를 대상으로 실시한 안전교육인 경우 효과가 가장 컸다. 또한, 안전교육 프로그램은 프로그램 실시 총 횟수가 증가할수록 효과크기가 유의하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 안전교육의 효과는 안전에 대한 지식 증대에 비해 수행력에 미치는 영향이 상대적으로 적었다. 따라서 안전교육 프로그램은 영유아를 대상으로 많은 횟수의 안전교육 프로그램을 실시하는 것이 효과적일 것으로 여겨지며, 안전수칙 수행력을 높이기 위한 프로그램 개발이 필요한 것으로 생각된다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the overall effects of safety education programs and identify the mediate variables affecting effectiveness. Twenty-five experimental studies that conducted safety education programs in Korea were selected as analysis targets and a meta-analysis was conducted. The results showed the effect of the safety education programs were significant except for one of the 25 studies, and the overall effect size was 0.896 (95% CI = 0.712-1.080). As a result of examining the effect sizes according to the mediate variables related to the safety education programs, it was found that the effect size of fire safety education was the highest among the safety education subjects. The effect size of safety education on infants and young children was the greatest. Also, as the total number of safety education programs increased, the effect size increased significantly. However, school safety education has less effect on performance than on safety knowledge. Therefore, in order to improve the effectiveness of safety education programs, it is necessary to conduct a large number of safety education programs for infants and young children, and it is necessary to develop programs to enhance the performance of safety rules.
