초등과학 수업에서 교사들의 STEAM 교육 운영에 대한 연구

A Study on Teachers’ Management of STEAM Education in Elementary Science Class

이 연구는 초등과학 수업에서 STEAM 교육의 운영 실태에 대하여 알아보기 위한 것으로 경기도 소재 초등학교에 근무하는 교사 69명을 대상으로 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등 교사들은 초등과학 수업에서 STEAM 수업은 분기별 1-2회가 많았고, 전학년에 걸쳐 실시되어야 한다고 생각하였다. 둘째, 초등과학 수업에서 STEAM 영역 중 공학이 융합하기 어려운 것으로 생각하였다. 셋째, STEAM 교육 프로그램은 문제해결력 향상에 중점을 두고, 과학과 실생활과 관련있는 내용을 중심으로 개발되어야 한다고 생각하였다. 넷째, 초등과학 수업에서 STEAM 교육을 하는데 가장 장애 요인으로 수업자료와 준비에 부담을 들었고, 교육환경 및 행․재정적 측면에서 제한적인 교수학습 공간, 자료 및 교구, 기자재 부족, 교사 연구 활동 및 자료 구입에 대한 재정적 지원 부족을 들었다. 다섯째, 초등과학 교과서 단원에서 STEAM 수업 적용이 쉬운 단원으로 3학년은 소리의 성질, 4학년은 거울과 그림자, 5학년은 태양계와 별, 6학년은 계절의 변화 단원이었다. 반면에 STEAM 수업 적용이 어려운 단원으로 3학년은 지표의 변화, 4학년은 지구와 달, 5학년은 태양계와 별, 6학년은 렌즈의 이용 단원이었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ management of STEAM education in elementary science class. For this, a survey was conducted with 69 elementary teachers at an elementary school located in Gyeonggi province. The results of this study were as follows: First, many elementary teachers perform the STEAM instruction in elementary science class one to two times a quarter, thinking that the STEAM instruction should be carried out for every grade. Second, they thought that among the areas of STEAM education engineering is the most difficult area to apply to STEAM education. Third, they thought that the STEAM program should be developed with an emphasis on improving problem-solving skills and centered around science and real-life contents. Fourth, they were burdened with teaching materials and preparation as the biggest obstacles to STEAM education. Fifth, they thought that the easy-to-apply units in STEAM class in elementary science textbooks were the Nature of Sound , Mirrors and Shadows , Solar system and the Stars , and Change of Seasons . On the other hand, they thought that the difficult-to-apply units were Change of the Earth Surface , Earth and Moon , Solar system and the Star , and use of Lens .
