다문화가정의 개인적 특성에 따른 문화지능 연구

A Study of cultural intelligence according to individual characteristics of multicultural families

다문화 사회에 함께 공존하기 위해서는 한국인들 뿐 만 아니라 다문화가정도 다문화 역량을 갖추는 것이 중요하다. 다문화 역량을 나타내는 개념은 여러 가지가 있으나, 문화지능은 포괄적이며 교육 가능한 변인으로 다문화 사회에서 중요한 요소이다. 문화지능은 글로벌 경제 체제와 더불어 경영 조직의 댜양성이 증가하고 인종적 또는 문화적으로 다른 배경을 가진 사람들이 서로 상호작용해야 할 필요성이 점점 증가하면서 실무적 관심과 필요성에 의해서 개념화되었다. 본 연구에서는 다문화가정의 역량을 측정할 수 있는 개념인 문화지능을 사회통합 프로그램에 참여하고 있는 다문화가정 참여자를 대상으로 연구하였다. 연구 대상자는 370명으로 개인적 특성에 따른 문화지능에 대해 연구하였다. 연구 결과, 사회통합 프로그램에 참여하고 있는 다문화인들의 전체 문화지능은 다문화언어강사나 초등교사보다는 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 개인적 특성에 따라서는 나이와 최종 학력에 따라서 문화지능에 차이가 있었다. 나이가 어릴수록, 학력이 높을수록 문화지능이 높은 것으로 연구 결과 나타났다. 하위 영역에서는 나이, 최종학력 뿐 만 아니라 체류자격, 거주지역에 따라서 차이가 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 기초로 하여 앞으로의 문화지능 연구 방향을 제시하였다.

In order to coexist in a multicultural society, it is important that not only Koreans but also multicultural families have multicultural competence. Among many concepts of multicultural competence, cultural intelligence, which is a comprehensive and educatable variable, serves as an important factor in a multicultural society. Cultural intelligence has been conceptualized by practical interests and necessities as the need to interact with people of ethnically or culturally divergent backgrounds has increased, along with the global economic system and the increasing diversity of management organizations. In this study, I studied cultural intelligence according to individual characteristics of multicultural family members participating in a social integration program. The results showed that the total level of their cultural intelligence was lower than that of multicultural language teachers or elementary teachers. There were differences in cultural intelligence according to personal characteristics such as age and the highest level of education. It was also found that the younger the age, or the higher the educational level, the higher the cultural intelligence was. There were differences in the sub-areas such as the status of visa and residential location. Based on the results of this study, directions for future research on cultural intelligence are presented.
