왕양명의 초상과 폐병, 그리고 측달지심(惻怛之心)의 관련성 시론(試論)

이 논문은 왕양명의 초상과 폐병, 그리고 측달지심(惻怛之心)과의 연관성에 주목하여 논한 것이다. 양명학을 보는 방법은 다양할 수 있다. 많은 사상가들의 생전 모습은 대체로 초상화를 통해서 추측해볼 수 있다. 그런데 왕양명의 경우는 좀 특별하다. 어딘가 병을 앓는 듯하다. 양명의 질환에 따른 고통, 그런 신체감각이 철학사상을 구축하는데 깊이 연관돼 있음을 살펴보는 것도 좋겠다. 양명 스스로 ‘오신지질통(吾身之疾痛)’이란 말을 썼다. 그의 사상의 발신지는 구체적 몸(신체)이지 관념적 머리(정신)가 아니다. 그래서 그의 사상 언어는, 신체가 만들어낸 : 신체감각 즉 ‘체감(體感) 언어’이지, 두뇌가 만드는 개념적 ‘추상(抽象) 언어’가 아니다. 양명이 말하는 ‘신체의 질통’(身之疾痛)은 바로 ‘진성측달지심’(眞誠惻怛之心)이고, 진성측달지심은 ‘양지’(良知)의 활동/전개(=致良知)이다. ‘신체의 질통’(身之疾痛)=‘진성측달지심’(眞誠惻怛之心)=‘치양지’(致良知)는 ‘시비(是非)’, ‘호오(好惡)’를 직관한다. 왕양명은, 스스로 질병을 껴안고 있으면서 병들고 아픈 세상을 치유하고자 했던 이른바 ‘상처 입은 의사’(wounded healer)’였다. 그래서 왕양명은, ‘진성/성애측달지심(眞誠/誠愛惻怛知心)이 없다면’, ‘양지를 실현할 수 없다’고 하였다. 이것은 ‘눈’의 진정한 의미는 ‘눈물’에 있음을 말한 것이다. 이성과 논리(=눈)의 진정한 의미는 구원과 자비(=눈물) 쪽에 있다는 말이다. 왕양명은 그의 치양지(致良知) 철학을, 성애측달지심(誠愛惻怛之心)이라는 ‘구원과 구제의 자비(慈悲)’ 쪽에서, 시비지심(是非之心)이라는 ‘지혜(智慧)-이성(理性)’을 껴안는 방향으로 구축하였다.

This paper focuses on the relationship between portrait of Wang Yang-ming, Consumption, and Empathy[Cedazhixin] There are many ways to study Yangming. The life of many thinkers can be guessed through the portraits. However, the case of Wang Yang-Ming is a little special. It seems to be somewhere ill. The pain associated with bilateral diseases, such a sense of body, is deeply related to building philosophical thought. This paper has paid attention to this point. Yangyang himself wrote the phrase pain in my body(wushenzhijitong吾身之疾痛) . The source of his ideas is the concrete body, not the ideological mind. So his thought language was the so-called body sensory language created by the body. It is not a conceptual abstract language that the brain makes. Wang s pain in my body is the function of mind that judges right and wrong(shifeizhixin) and is the zhiliangzhi(Moral judgment and willingness to practice in human beings). Wang Yangmyong was a so-called wounded healer who was hugging himself and trying to heal the sick and sick world. So Wang Yang-ming said that we shall realize zhiliangzhi would not be possible without sympathy and compassion. This means that the true meaning of the eyes is in tears. The true meaning of rationality and logic is that it is toward salvation and mercy. Wang Yang - ming s zhiliangzhi philosophy sees wisdom and reason in salvation, salvation, and compassion.
