  • 108

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between hearing impaired school teachers perceptions toward hearing impaired students’ identity and the job types in Holland model. The data of 256 teachers of eight hearing impaired schools nationwide was analyzed for this study. Through the factor analysis, identity was composed of one factor, and job types were divided into realistic, enterprising, artistic, and conventional factors. The results of this study were that: (a) according to the background variables of the hearing impaired school teachers, the identity of the hearing impaired students was different according to their gender and teaching career. Teachers’ teaching career of hearing impaired school was different from recognition of artistic form among profession type of hearing impaired students. However, in the perception of realistic, enterprising, and conventional types, there was no difference according to background variables of the hearing impaired school teachers; and (b) based on the perception of identity of the hearing impaired students of the hearing impaired school, the desirable job types appeared in the order of enterprising type, artistic type, and realistic type. However, when the conventional type was based on the identity of the hearing impaired student, the hearing impaired school teachers recognized it as an undesirable job type. In this study, it is found that teachers’ teaching experiences in hearing impaired school is an important variable with their perception of identity and job type. In this study, the hearing impaired school teacher suggests that the identity of the hearing impaired student can be a major factor in determining the job types.
