소설『싯다르타』의 자아 성장 과정을 통해 살펴본 상담자 발달과정 고찰

A Study on the Self-growth Process of the novel “Siddhartha” : Focused on the Development Process of the Consultant

본 연구는 상담자 발달모형에 관한 연구를 정리하고 그 결과를 바탕으로, 소설『싯다르타』의 주인공인 싯다르타의 자아 성장 과정과 상담자 발달과정을 비교함으로써 상담자 발달과정에서 상담자 개인의 자아 성장 즉 통찰의 중요성을 강조하고자 하였다. 상담자의 발달과정은 초기에는 모방이나 의존단계를 거쳐, 중기가 되면 그 과정에서 벗어나 자율성의 범위를 점차 넓혀가고, 후기에 가서는 자신만의 방법 즉 개별화 단계로 귀결된다. 헤세의 『싯다르타』에서는 싯다르타라는 한 개인이 자아의 실체와 그것의 원천, 그리고 현상 뒤에 숨겨진 통일적 삶과 세계를 근원적으로 파악하고 통찰하는 과정을 거치면서 자기발전의 의미를 찾아간다. 소설『싯다르타』의 자아 성장 과정과 상담자의 발달과정을 비교해 봄으로써 상담자의 발달과정에 있어 상담자 개인의 자아 성장이 중요성을 반추해보는 계기가 되었다. 또한, 본 연구를 통해 상담자의 발달 수준을 높이기 위해서는 기술이나 이론적 접근도 중요하지만, 성찰과 지혜를 포함한 개인의 자아 성장이 필요하며 이를 위해 상담자 교육과정에서 교육분석이나 마음챙김과 같은 개인의 성장을 다룰 수 있는 교육이 포함되어야 함을 강조하고자 한다.

Based on the result of organizing the study on the model of the counselor development, the present study tried to emphasize the importance of the individual self growth and insight of the counselor in the counseling development process by comparing the self-growth process of Siddhartha, the main character of the novel Siddhartha . A counselor s development process goes through an imitative or dependent Period in the early stage, and gradually expands the scope of autonomy out of the process in the middle stage, and lastly, results in a personalization stage, which is its own method. Hesse s “Siddhartha”, an individual named Siddhartha, searched for the meaning of self-development while fundamentally grasping and explaining the reality of the self, its source, and the unified life and world hidden behind the phenomenon. By comparing the self-growth process of the novel “Siddhartha” with the development process of the counselor, it was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of individual self-growth of the counselor in the course of her development. In addition, to enhance the level of development of counselors through this study, it is emphasized that skills and theoretical approaches are important, but that individual self-growth, including reflective thinking and wisdom, should be included in the counselor s curriculum to address personal growth, such as didactic analysis and mindfulness meditation
