스마트 교실 학습이 학업성취도와 수업만족도에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Smart Classroom Learning on the Academic Achievement of College Students

본 연구의 목적은 문화간 이해능력을 고양하는 수업에 블렌디드 러닝으로 스마트폰 앱인 밴드를 활용한 효과를 조사하고자 하는데 있다. 참여 학생은 총 84명으로 충남권 대학에서 개설된 문화내용중심 수업 2개 분반에서 한 반은 실험집단(41명)으로 스마트폰 애플리케이션을 사용한 모바일 러닝을 실시하고, 또 다른 반은 모바일 러닝을 이용한 과업의 수행없이 통제집단(43명)으로 한 학기 동안 수업이 진행되었다. 개설된 두 개 분반은 문화수업으로 2명의 강사가 가르쳤다. 본 연구는 2018년 1학기에 수행되었으며, 학기말에 담당 강사들의 도움으로 설문지 조사를 실시하였고, 5점 리커르트 척도로 수업에 대한 참여학생들의 만족도와 관심을 측정하였다. 그리고, 독립 표본 T 검정을 실시하여 스마트폰 앱 사용이 학생들의 학업성취도에 미친 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 스마트폰을 이용한 모바일 학습을 한 그룹의 기말 성적 평균이 모바일 학습을 하지 않은 그룹의 성적 평균보다 높게 나타났지만, 학업성취도 차이는 통계적으로 유의미하지는 않은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 한 한기 동안 교실에서 스마트폰을 활용한 과업을 수행한 학생들은 대체적으로 스마트폰 앱 사용에 대해 긍정적으로 응답한 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of using the smartphone application Band in blended learning for raising intercultural competence in the classroom. The participants were 84 students enrolled in 2 different cultural classes from a university in Chuengnam province, Korea and they were divided into two groups: a smart classroom learning group (n=41), and a control group (n=43). The two classes were all related to learning cultures, taught by two instructors. The experiment was administered during the spring semester of the 2018 academic year. The questionnaire survey was conducted on the last day of the semester with the instructors’ support. Participants’ level of overall satisfaction and interests were measured with a five-point likert scale (1 to 5 points). An independent sample t-test was carried out to investigate the effect of smartphobe use on the students’ academic achievement. The results showed that the mean of final exam scores was higher in the smart classroom learning group, but not significantly different between groups. However, students showed an overall positive attitudes and perspectives toward smartphone use in their class.
