우리말 한자어 생명종식어의 죽음 앞에서의 태도 실현 양상 연구(Ⅱ) - ‘타인의 죽음’과 ‘금지된 죽음’을 중심으로 -

A Study on the attitude realization aspect of Sino-Korean life ending word before death(Ⅱ) - Focusing on death of others & forbidden death -

최근 고령화와 1인 가구의 확산에 따른 고독사 등으로 죽음에 대한 관심이 늘고 있다. 이와 관련하여 이 연구는 필리프 아리에스(1975)의 죽음 앞에서의 네 가지 태도 중 타인의 죽음과 금지된 죽음의 태도가 우리말 한자어 자동사 생명종식어에 어떻게 나타나는가를 살펴보려는 데 그 목적이 있다. 아리에스는 죽음 앞에서의 태도 접근법에서 인문과학에서는 통시론과 공시론을 함께 적용해야 함을 주장했는데, 이 연구에서도 마찬가지이다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. ⅰ) 전통적 길들여진 죽음에 비해 ‘타인의 죽음’에서는 안방에서의 죽음 틀을 크게 벗어나지 않지만, ‘금지된 죽음’에서는 임종을 맞는 장소가 안방이 아니라는 점에서 벗어난다. ⅱ) 타인의 죽음 태도와 관련된 한자어 자동사 생명종식어는 자신의 의지와는 상관없이 인위적으로 집밖에서 죽는다는 점에서 ‘[-의지][-자연사][-안방]’을 공통으로 갖는다. ⅲ) 타인의 죽음 태도에서 [+도구][+자연현상]을 반영한 어휘로는 ‘소살되다, 진사되다’ 등이, [+도구][-자연현상]은 ‘척살되다, 참살되다, 타살되다’ 따위가 있다. ⅳ) 죄인을 대하는 권력자의 태도 여부가 반영된 어휘로는 ‘사사되다, 주살되다, 참수되다’ 등이, 집단 죽임의 참혹함 정도가 반영된 것으로는 ‘멸살되다, 참살되다, 학살되다’ 따위가 있다. ⅴ) ‘금지된 죽음’ 태도와 관련된 ‘고독사하다’는 죽음 의례의 주재자와 참석자가 없을 뿐만 아니라 시신의 온전한 보존도 어렵고 이의 처리도 공적 기관이 담당한다.

Recently, interest in death has grown due to the aging population and the spread of single-person households. In this regard, this study aims to examine how the attitude of ‘death of others’ and ‘forbidden death’ appears in the sino-korean intransitive life ending verbs, among the four attitudes fronting the death of Philipp Ariès(1975). As a result, the following results were obtained: i) In the death of others compared to the traditional domesticated death, it does not deviate greatly from the frame of death in the innter room. Yet in the forbidden death it deviates from the death frame as the place of death is not the inner room. ii) The sino-korean intransitive life ending verbs related to the attitude of death of others has [-will][-natural][-home room] feature in common in that the death happens forcefully outside of the home regardless of the dead’s will. iii) Words reflecting [+tools][+natural phenomena] and [+tools][-natural phenomena] in the attitudes of death of others include 소살되다, 진사되다 and 척살되다, 참살되다 each. iv) Words that reflect the attitude of the powerful toward the sinner include 사사되다, 주살되다, 참수되다 , and the horrors of mass killing are reflected in ‘멸살되다, 참살되다.’ v) Not only is the lonely death associated with the forbidden death attitude, there are no hosts and attendees of the death ritual, but the complete preservation of the body is difficult and its handling is also handled by the public institution.
