학교문화예술교육은 그 특유의 풍요로움을 인정받아 양적으로 확대되고 있다. 그러나 학교현장에서는 재정적 지원에 크게 의존하고 있으며, 특히 문화소외지역의 소규모 학생들은 큰 수혜를 받지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 학생동아리 활동과 문화예술기반 교육이 강조된 학교 주도형 문화예술교육 방안을 마련하고, 이를 적용하여 문화예술역량과 자기주도적 학습능력 증진에 대한 효과를 분석하였다. 또한, 회귀분석을 통해 자기주도적 학습능력과 문화예술역량 간의 관계를 살펴보았으며, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 연구결과를 질적으로 보완하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 재원 지원사업의 일부인 예술강사 지원사업에만 의존하는 소규모 학교에 비하여 문화예술역량과 자기 주도적 학습능력의 일부 영역에서 두드러지는 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 학생의 자기 주도적 학습능력과 문화예술역량과의 관계를 분석함으로써 두 요인이 가지는 패턴을 분석할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 학교 주도형 문화예술교육에 대한 학생들의 인식을 분석함으로써 운영의 효과 및 방법적인 측면에서의 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 이와 같이 교육주체가 스스로 문화예술을 만들어 가는 학교 주도형 문화예술교육은 문화소외지역 학생들에게 높은 교육적, 사회적 효과를 창출하는 대안이 될 수 있다.
The school culture and arts education is expanding quantitatively in recognition of its distinctive richness. However, the school-site is heavily dependent on financial support, especially small-scale students in cultural isolated areas don’t benefit. The purpose of this study is to develop a school–led culture and art education program emphasizing student autonomy club and arts-based education and to analyze the effects of cultural and arts competence improvement. In addition, we examined the relationship between self-directed learning ability and culture art competence through regression analysis, and supplemented the research results qualitatively through focus group interview. The results of this study are as follows: First, there were significant effects in some areas of cultural arts competence and self–directed learning ability compared to small–scale schools relying only on arts teacher support projects which are part of financial support projects. Second, by analyzing the relationship between students self–directed learning ability and cultural arts competence, we could analyze patterns of two factors. Finally, we analyzed the students perceptions about school–led culture and arts education and tried to provide implications for the effectiveness and method of operation.
