박물관 교육에서의 카니발 페다고지 적용 - 구로공단 노동자생활체험관 사례를 중심으로 -

Carnival Pedagogy in Museum Education : A Case of the ‘Guro Industrial Complex Labor House’

4차 산업혁명 시대를 맞아 노동의 범위와 의미는 과거보다 더욱 확장되고 있다. 그러나 노동에 대한 사회전반적인 인식은 기술의 발전 속도에 미치지 못하고 있다. 사회의 편향적인 인식은 결국 청소년에게도 영향을 주어 노동자에 대한 왜곡된 시각을 그대로 받아들이게 할 뿐만 아니라 청소년의 성숙한 시민의식 형성과 민주성 함양에 부정적인 영향을 끼칠 것이다. 따라서 기성세대뿐만 아니라 미래 사회를 주체적으로 이끌어 갈 청소년에게 이념적·정치적 문제를 비판적으로 사고하고 주체적인 사회참여를 요구하는 교육의 필요성이 제기된다. 박물관은 대표적인 비형식적 교육 기관으로 이념적·정치적 이슈를 연결 지을 수 있는 특정 전시물을 보유하고 있다. 그리고 그것의 맥락적 의미에 따라 다양한 주제와 대상을 포괄할 수 있다는 강점을 지닌다. 여기에 구성주의 기반의 감성적이고 해학적인 소통을 통해 이념적·정치적 문제를 다루고 나아가 사회에 대한 실천성을 추구하는 교수 학습이론인 카니발 페다고지를 박물관 교육에 적용한다면 비판적 인식 고양의 교육적 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 본다. 이에 본 연구에서는 청소년을 대상으로 하여 카니발 페다고지에 기반한 박물관 교육프로그램을 개발, 그 가능성을 살펴보았다. 추후 카니발 페다고지를 기반으로 한 박물관 교육프로그램 개발에 있어 교육담당자 및 연구자에게 실질적 도움을 제공할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

Even in Modern society, labor control and exploitation have been claimed to be practiced, yet, in different forms from the past by the influence of neoliberalism. In this context, required competency to the youths is to think critically on ideological and political issues, hence, to engage in voluntary social participation, And museum as a representative non-formal educational institution seems to a proper place to teach critical awareness needed to the students. For museum is full of objects with socio-cultural contexts, which are able to easily link to ideological and political issues. Furthermore, emerging specific learning approaches for critical awareness in museum context is ‘Carnival pedagogy’ which is a teaching and learning theory dealing with ideological and political issues in society through emotional engagement, humorous parody, and critical awareness under the umbrella of constructivist epistemology. This study, therefore, aimed to, first, develop a museum education program based on the Carnival Pedagogy for youths (7-9th graders) in the Guro Industrial Complex labor house, and second, to analyze changes of the students’ perceptions on the workers as results of the program. Carnival pedagogy in museum, as a result of the study, turned out to have potential as an alternative approach in dealing with social, political, and ideological issues, perception change, and moreover, enhancing critical awareness to the participants in the museum program.
