본 연구는 인간의 비언어적인 요소인 제스처가 교육공간에서 어떻게 발현되고 교수자와 학습자간의 상호작용이 이루어 질 수 있는 지에 대해서 시사점을 제공할 수 있다. 제스처의 의미가 단순히 예술적인 퍼포먼스를 넘어서 신체언어, 언어 기호체계와 같은 상징적인 의미전달 체계로서 그 의미는 다양한 관점에서 드려다 볼 수 있는 흥미로운 기제 이다. 다양한 비언어적 요소들 제스처는 신체언어와 언어행위로서 제스처로 구분하여 그 의미 전달체계과정을 구체적으로 살펴볼 수 있으며 인간 행위에서 단순하게 행해지는 비언어적 요소 현상을 심도 깊게 드려다 볼 수 있게 된다. 이에 인지과정으로서 제스처의 의미를 Merleau-Ponty와 Mead의 이론을 중심으로 설명이 가능하다. Merleau-Ponty는 몸이 세계를 지각하고 의미화 하는 과정에서 제스처는 인간의 근원적인 표현도구라는 것을 강조한다. 또한 Mead는 제스처의 의미를 언어의 구조보다 인간이 행하는 폭 넓은 문화 활동을 포함한 다양한 영역 안에 스며들어있는 언어의 의미로서 사회 행동주의적 관점으로 제스처를 해석한다. 따라서 제스처의 의미가 인간의 사회적 상호관계에서 중요한 기제임을 밝히고 있다. 이러한 관점들로 제스처의미를 분석한 결과 교육행위관점에서 제스처는 의미전달체계와 인식확장에 있어 중요한 화두이며 나아가 교수자와 학습자들 간의 상호작용은 비언어적인 요소인 즉, 제스처를 통해서 보다 효과적인 수업 모형으로 발전시킬 수 있으며 변화하길 기대한다.
This study can provide implications for expression of gestures, nonverbal factor of human, in educational space and interactions between instructors and learners. Gestures mean symbolic system of meaning conveyance, such as body languages and linguistic signs, beyond the simple artistic performance. The meaning is an interesting mechanism which can be considered from various angles. Various nonverbal factor gestures can be classified as gestures of body language and language act, the process of the meaning conveyance system can be considered concretely and nonverbal factor phenomenon conducted simply in human behavior can be deeply examined. Therefore, it s possible to explain the meaning of gesture as cognitive process by focusing on the theories of Merleau-Ponty and Mead. Merleau-Ponty emphasizes that gestures are human s sourceful expression tool while body cognizes and signifies the world. In addition, Mead interprets gestures from an angle of social behaviorism and insists gestures mean languages of various sectors including broad cultural activities conducted by human rather than linguistic structure. Therefore, he explains gestures are an important mechanism in social correlations of human. The meaning of gestures was analyzed by those angles. As a result, gestures are an important topic for meaning conveyance system and cognition extension from an angle of educational act and furthermore, interactions between instructors and learners should be developed and changed to more effective class model through the gestures which are a nonverbal factor.
