이제 그림책이라는 장르는 인간의 깊은 내면과 삶의 다양한 면면을 표현하고 소통하는 새로운 예술양식으로 받아들여지고 있다. 그런데 지금까지의 그림책에 대한 연구는 그림책을 보는 인간 인지와 마음의 측면에 대한 심도 깊은 고려는 해오지 않은 것이 사실이다. 이에 본 논문은 단지 문화적 산물로서의 그림책이 아니라 인간의 몸과 상호작용하고, 이에 함께 공진화를 만들어 나가고 있는 새로운 문화인지 구조로서의 그림책의 특성들을 분석하고 이를 고찰하고자 하였다. 문화와 인지의 오래된 이분법을 넘어, 인간 인지와 문화를 둘러싼 다양한 현상 이해를 위한 새로운 틀로서 ‘문화인지’ 개념에서 바라봄으로써 기존의 인지와 문화 각각의 개념으로는 설명되지 않았던 문화인지 현상의 구조와 기능의 독특성에 대한 분석을 시도하였다. 이를 위해 체화인지의 하위 여섯 개념을 중심으로 그림책과 인간인지의 측면을 차례로 분석하여, 그림책이라는 새로운 문화인지 구조가 어떠한 다양한 조건과 맥락 내에서 인간 내부에서 재구성, 구조화 되는지의 기초를 마련해 보고자 하였다. 이는 새로운 구성개념인 문화인지 개념이 우리의 일상 맥락에서 어떻게 작동할 수 있는지의 예를 보여주는 동시에, 이와 관련한 다양한 함의를 발달과 교육, 그리고 예술과 치유의 측면에 적용하려는 시도이다.
Recently picturebooks has been broadly perceived as a new genre of art which is to express varieties of life aspects in human mind. However few study has been yet investigate about picturebooks in terms of human cognition and mind in depth. This paper aims to examine the process and the characteristics of cultuĝnitive construction through picturebooks with respect to not just cultural products but a new cultural structure which is to interact and to co-evolve with human body. Two concepts, cultuĝnition and embodied cognition were applied to execute for this purpose. Cultuĝnition is that a new frame to overcome an old dichotomy between gene and environment and to explain various phenomena around human cognition and culture. The embodied cognition is the fourth generation in cognitive science and profoundly accepted in various academic fields. In this study, six sub-concepts of embodied cognition such as embodied, embedded, extended, situated, enacted cognition were implemented to demonstrated how the interplays between human and picturebook as a product of coevolution show. There were discussed some implications and prospects for educational, therapeutical fields. This cultuĝnitive account is useful in understanding and organizing accumulating discoveries of cultural variations in human mind and the body.
