본 연구는 우리나라 유아음악과 초등음악이 다문화적인 내용으로 연계되어 통합 교육될 필요성과 의의에 대하여 논의하는 것이다. 본 연구에서의 음악통합교육은 다문화 아동과 그들 부모의 모국음악과 우리 음악의 통합, 즉 음악교육내용의 다문화적 통합을 의미하며, 이어서 유아교육과 초등교육에서 다문화적인 연계성의 의미를 강조하는 것이다, 유아와 초등학교 1-2학년 아동에게 있어서 음악과 음악활동의 통합으로 서로의 다문화적 이질감을 감소시키는 역할은 다문화음악교육으로의 통합만이 담당할 수 있기 때문이다. 음악교육과정이 다문화적인 통합으로 변화할 때, 즉 세계 여러 나라의 음악을 유ㆍ초등음악교육과정에 포함시킬 때, 아동은 세계를 이해하는 다양하고 흥미 있는 경험을 하게 되며, 그 결과 유아교육과 초등교육에서 다문화아동에 대한 이해와 해석의 폭을 넓히고 다문화 아동의 사회적 적응을 도울 수 있는 음악교육에의 실제적 적용이 가능하게 된다. 이상적인 음악교육, 즉 다문화아동의 사회적인 적응을 가능하게 하는 음악교육적인 방법은, 아동이 쉽게 화합할 수 있는 음악활동을 통하여 아동이 공감하여 마음의 벽을 헐고 모두를 통합할 수 있는 음악적 기회를 제공하는 것이다.
The major goals of this study is to clear the significance and the directions of change in multicultural integration of the music education at the kindergarten and elementary school, In view of multicultural education. As music is a common language of man kind, there is the life of nation, history, and tradition in the music. We must educate children to understand and accept the race and gender, language, hierarchy, by integrating multicultural music culture around the world. Multicultural integration is most important thing of the music education, by stimulating the sensitivity and emotions, to help them communicate in the different cultures at the kindergarten and elementary school in the 21st century. The integration of music education helps us to understand other cultures in our national culture and contents of the music, and makes us to respect for different points, and makes us to think and speak about a different culture. When the music curriculum changes to multicultural integration, in other words, when the music curriculum includes the music of many countries of the world, the children can have interesting experience which understand the world, and the results, in the kindergarten and primary school education, children can broaden the understanding and interpretation to the foreigners, and they can be practical, social adaptation.
