Brief History of the Organizational Structures of Seventh-day Adventist Church and Its Uniqueness

이 연구는 재림교회 조직과 운영의 특징을 추적한 것이다. 첫째, 재림교회는 세계적인 신앙공동체로서 그 정체성은 독특한 교단 조직체계와 분리되어 정의될 수가 없다. 둘째, 재림교회의 내부 정치는 대표자들에 의해 운영되는 대의제를 채택하고 있으며, 행정적 권한은 법인의 헌장과 조항에 의해 부여된다. 셋째, 재림교회의 조직구조인 지방교회, 지방합회, 연합회, 대총회는 관련 조직의 헌장과 각 단계 조직의 평의원회에 의해 투표로 결정된다. 이러한 재림교회의 조직구조는 자신들의 사명의 이해에서 비롯되었으며, 세계적인 성장과 확산에 기여하였다.

This paper is to pursue t he character ist ics of t he organizational structures and administration of Seventh-day Adventist Church. First, the identity of the Adventist church, as the worldwide community of believers, cannot be defined in isolation from its specific denominational organization. Second, the Adventist Church adopts a representative system for its internal governance and administrative authorities are assigned through the constitutions or articles of incorporation. Third, the local churches, local conferences, union conferences, and general conference are operated by vote of the appropriate constituency or/and by actions of properly authorized executive committees. The organizational system results from the understanding of its own mission and contributes its global growth and spread.
