심리학의 영역에서 바라본 문화적 역량에 관한 탐색적 연구

Exploratory Research on Cultural Competencies from the Perspective of the Domain of Psychology

본 논문은 문화적 역량을 심리학적 관점에서 고찰해보고 문화적 역량의 심리학적 구성요소들을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문화적 역량의 개념을 문화와 예술을 창조하고, 감상하고, 향유하는 데 요구되는 지식, 기술, 태도의 전문화된 체계로 규정하고, 문화적 역량과 관련된 것으로 가정되는 동기적 차원, 성격특성적 차원, 인지적 차원 그리고 심리사회적 차원들을 분석하여, 심리학적 관점에서 바라본 문화적 역량의 심리학적 구성요소들을 살펴보았다. 그리고 이렇게 분석된 문화적 역량의 심리학적 구성요소들을 BKJ 프로젝트 핵심역량 분류와 같은 기존의 문화적 역량에 관한 연구들과 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 많은 부분에서 기존의 연구들과 유사한 구성요소들이 추출되었지만 그럼에도 불구하고 몇 가지 서로 다른 차이점들이 나타났다. 이와 같은 차이점들은 문화와 문화적 역량의 개념에 의한 차이에 기인한 것으로 보인다. 따라서 문화적 역량의 구성요소에 대한 논의는 문화와 문화적 역량의 다양한 스펙트럼을 고려해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이와 같은 의미에서 다양한 영역에서 문화와 문화적 역량을 기술하고 이를 근거로 문화적 역량의 핵심역량을 분석하는 학제적인 연구 프로젝트는 문화적 역량에 대한 유익한 통찰을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 개대된다.

The purpose of the present study was to examine cultural competencies from psychological perspectives and to indentify psychological factors of cultural competencies. To achieve these aims, this study used following procedures. The study narrowly defined the concept of cultural competence as a specific system of knowledge, skills and attitudes required to create, appreciate, and enjoy arts and culture. Then the study explored presumably related factors such as motivational factors, factors from personality-traits, cognitive factors and psycho-social factors. The study compared these psychological factors of cultural competencies with the ones described in existing studies like the BKJ Project on the key competencies classification. Consequently, many elements were found similar to the ones of existing studiesbut several differences were also observed. Such differences are considered to be based on the gap between the concept of culture and that of cultural competencies. Therefore, the elements of cultural competencies need to be discussed in consideration of the broad spectrum between culture and cultural competencies. In this regard, interdisciplinary research projects would provide deeper insight into cultural competencies by offering descriptions about culture and cultural competencies from the diverse viewpoints of various domains and analyses of key competencies of cultural competencies based on these observations.
