초등영어 교실에 적용할 수 있는 교수요목에 관한 연구

A Study on the Syllabus Design Applicable to the Elementary English Classroom

본 논문에서는 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 교수요목들에 대해서 살펴보았다. 그 동안 교수요목은 교육과정이라는 큰 틀 안에 묻혀 거의 언급이 없었다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 초등학교 교실에 적용할 수 있는 구체적인 교수요목들 즉, 문법 중심 교수요목, 화제 중심 교수요목, 과업 중심교수요목, 의사소통 중심 교수요목의 특징과 장·단점을 살펴보았다. 이렇게 함으로써 현장에서 다양한 초등영어 수업을 할 수 있는 토대를 마련하고자 하였다. 문법 중심 교수요목을 설정할 때는 용이성, 규칙성, 빈도, 대조적 어려움을 토대로 제시하는 것이 필요하고, 화제 중심 교수요목을 설정할 때는 초등학생들과 관련된 많은 화제들을 이용하는 것이 필요하다. 아울러 과업 중심 교수요목은 초등 현장에서 교사가 과업들을 수준에 맞게 선정하는 것이 중요하고 과업 절차를 잘 적용하는 것이 필요하다. 마지막으로 의사소통 중심 교수요목은 초등현장에서 교사들이 의사소통 능력의 구성 성분들을 잘 적용하여 교수요목을 설정하는 것이 중요하다. 지금까지 언급한 교수요목들이 초등 교실 영어에 잘 적용될 수 있기 위해서는 현장에서 교사가 구체적인 수업 지도안을 구안하고 수업을 실시하면서 더 발전된 교수요목들을 개발해야 한다.

The purpose of this study was to address the necessity of syllabus design applicable to the elementary English classroom. This study explained the characteristics, merits, and demerits of grammatical syllabus, topic-based syllabus, task-based syllabus, and communicative syllabus. The grammatical syllabus needs the ordering of simplicity, regularity, frequency, contrastive difficulty when elementary English teachers design the syllabus. When it comes to the topic-based syllabus, teachers need to utilize a lot of topics designing the topic-based syllabus. The task-based syllabus needs the procedure of pre-task stage, task stage, post-task stage. All the teachers should choose the appropriate tasks according to the level. Finally, the communicative syllabus is made up of a lot of components of communicative competence. So all the teachers should design the communicate syllabus using many components of communicative competence appropriately. It can be concluded that all the teachers need to design the concrete syllabus appropriately regarding grammatical syllabus, topic-based syllabus, task-based syllabus, and communicative syllabus. It is suggested that these kinds of syllabuses should be applicable to the elementary English classroom.
