이 논문에서는 우리나라 국가수준학업성취도평가에 대응되는 미국의 NAEP에 대해 살펴보았다. 1969년부터 시행된 NAEP은 시대 변화에 따라 평가 과목, 내용, 방식에 변화를 꾀해 왔다. 수학과 평가에서도 새로운 기법을 사용하고 있어 국내 평가 문항 개발이나 평가 결과 활용에 사용 가능한 아이디어들이 있다. 대표적으로 문항 복잡도, 문항 지도, 성취수준 등을 들 수 있다. 그러한 내용을 정리하여 우리나라 평가에 유의미한 시사점을 찾고자 하였다.

This paper examines the US NAEP corresponding to Korea s national academic achievement test. Since its inception in 1969, NAEP has changed the subjects, content, and methods of evaluation as the times change. Mathematics and evaluation also use new techniques, so there are ideas that can be used to develop domestic assessment items or to use assessment results. Typical examples include item complexity, item guidance, and achievement levels.
