포토보이스 연구 방법의 특수교육 활용 가능성 탐색을 위한 연구 동향 분석

A Literature Review toward Practical Application of the Photovoice Methodology in Special Education

이 연구는 특수교육 분야에서 사진을 활용하여 이루어진 질적 연구를 체계적으로 분석한 후 특수교육 분야에서의 활용 가능성을 살펴보기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 2000년 이후 국내외에서 발표된 포토보이스(photovoice) 연구 42편을 선정하였다. 이후 대상 연구를 연구 주제, 연구 참여자, 자료 수집방법 등의 연구 방법으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 첫째, 특수교육 분야의 포토보이스 연구 주제 분석 결과 “지역사회 참여, 통합 및 접근성”에 대한 연구와 “통합된 교육환경에서의 학교 교육과 문화 만들기”에 관한 연구가 각각 26.2%로 가장 높게 나타났다. 그밖에 “장애로 인한 당사자의 삶”을 소개하는 연구가 19.0%, “장애인의 직업과 고용 및 자기 결정”에 관한 연구가 16.7%로 나타났다. 기타 고찰연구도 11.9%로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구 참여자 분석 결과는 6-9명이 참여한 연구가 13편(35.1%)으로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 연령별로는 성인 참여자 연구가 17편(39.5%)으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 장애 유형별로는 지적장애인 연구가 23편(59.0%)으로 가장 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 방법 분석 결과, 포토보이스 자료 수집 기간은 미기재를 제외하고 3-6개월이 9편(24.3%)으로 가장 많았다. 연구 결과의 활용별 분석에서는 사진전시회 13편(35.1%), 지역사회 성과 발표는 10편(27.1%)의 순으로 나타났다. 논의에서는 도출된 결과에 대한 함의와 이후 특수교육 분야에서의 참여 실행연구로서 포토보이스 연구의 활용 가능성과 방향을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the qualitative research using photographs and to explore the possibility of application in the field of special education. 42 internal and external studies about the photovoice methodology, conducted after 2000, were selected and classified by research topics, research participants, and data collection methods. First, as a result of the analysis of the subjects of photovoice research in special education, research on “community involvement, integration and accessibility” and “creation of school education and culture in an integrated educational environment” were the highest at 26.2%, each. In addition, “introducing the lives of the disabled”, “occupation, employment and self-determination of the disabled”, and other studies took 19.0%, 16.7%, and 11.9% of the whole subjects, respectively. Second, based on three criteria, the number, the age, and the type of disability of the participants, ‘studies with 6-9 participants’ (13 studies, 35.1%), ‘studies with adults’ (17 studies, 39.5%) and ‘studies about the intellectually disabled’ (23, 59.0%) were the most frequently studied among literatures. Third, as a result of analysis of research method, ‘3-6 months’ was the majority of the data collection periods, except unlisted. According to the analysis of application results, the majority was photographic exhibition (13 studies, 35.1%) and community performance presentations were the second (10 studies, 27.1%). In discussion, the implications of the results, the possibility and the direction of applying photovoice research as a participatory action study in the field of special education were suggested.
