신문읽기와 글쓰기 통합교육 방안에 관한 연구

A Study on Integrated Education method of Newspaper Reading and Writing

신문이 보여주는 현장성, 그리고 다양한 필자들의 사유와 그것을 담아내는 논리적 구성과 창의적인 표현방식 등은 학생들에게 사회 흐름에 대한 이해력을 높이고, 사고력을 신장하는 데 도움을 준다. 그러나 미디어 환경의 빠른 변화와 확장성에 비해 사회이슈에 대한 학생들의 관심은 이에 미치지 못하는 것이 현실이며, 언론보도의 신뢰성 여부 역시 잘 검토하지 않은 채 손쉽게 접할 수 있는 인터넷 매체 보도를 수동적으로 받아들이는 경우가 많다. 이에 본고에서는 신문읽기와 글쓰기 통합 수업사례를 바탕으로 학생들의 정보 분별력, 정보 문해력(文解力)을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 마련해 보았다. 수업에서는 정치․사회적 시각을 달리하는 여러 종류의 신문을 비교 읽기한 후, 이를 사설, 만평, 보고서 등 다양한 장르의 글쓰기 활동으로 연계함으로써 학생들에게 정보수용자에서 나아가 창의적인 정보 전달자로서의 역할을 경험할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 수업의 예는 고전읽기교육에 집중되어 있는 읽기 교육의 장을 확대하여 신문 읽기와 글쓰기 통합 수업의 가능성을 확인하였다는 데 의의가 있다. 앞으로 신문 읽기 교육을 활성화하여 학생들이 국내외 사회 동향을 읽을 수 있는 균형 잡힌 시각을 기르고, 자기표현능력을 향상할 수 있는 기회를 지속적으로 제공해야 할 것으로 본다.

The sense of realism revealed in newspaper, the thought of the various authors, and the logical composition and creative expression that holds it, help students to Improve comprehension about the social flows and develop their thinking skills. However, students tend to demonstrate lower interests in social issues compare to the rapid change and expandability of media environment, and there is a tendency to accept passively the Internet media reports that can be accessed easily without examining the reliability of the media reports. In this paper, based on the case of newspaper reading - writing integrated class, I prepared a method to improve the students information discernment ability and information literacy. In the class, after reading and comparing various types of newspapers with different political and social perspectives, the student participants linked them to writing activities in diverse genres such as editorials, editorial cartoon, and reports, so that students could experience their role as creative information transferors. It is meaningful that the case of this class expanded the field of reading education which is concentrated on classical reading education, and confirmed the possibility of newspaper reading - writing integrated class. In the future, it will be necessary to continuously provide opportunity to develop a balanced view of reading domestic and foreign social trends and improve self-expression ability by activating the newspaper reading education.
