노인의 삶의 의미와 우울 간의 관계에서 사회적 지지의 조절효과

The moderating effect of social support between meaning of life and depression of the elderly

본 연구는 삶의 의미와 사회적 지지가 노인의 우울에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구는 대전에 거주하고 있는 만 60세 이상의 어르신 중 대전광역시노인복지관 이용회원 중 230명을 대상으로 하였고, 측정 도구는 삶의 의미 척도, 사회적 지지 척도, 우울 척도를 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 삶의 의미는 우울에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 삶의 의미의 하위 변인 중 삶의 가치가 우울에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회적 지지는 우울에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 사회적 지지가 높을수록 우울이 낮은 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 지지의 하위변인 중 가족의 지지가 우울에 가장 큰 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 삶의 의미와 우울 사이에서 사회적 지지의 조절 효과가 있어서, 사회적 지지 수준이 높을수록 삶의 의미의 경험을 통해서 우울을 극복하는데 많은 도움을 준다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면, 삶의 의미는 노인의 우울에 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있으며, 따라서 노인의 우울을 감소시키기 위해서는 그들의 삶의 의미와 사회적 지지를 증진하기 위한 다양한 프로그램의 개발이 필요함을 시사한다.

This study aims to examine the influence of meaning of life and social support on depression of the elderly. The study targeted 230 members from Daejeon senior welfare center over age 60 living in Daejeon. As for the measuring tool, the study used meaning of life scale, depression scale, social support scale. The study results are as follows. First, the meaning of life had effect on negatively depression, and among the subcategories of meaning of life, value of life was the most influential factor to depression. Second, the social support had effect on negatively depression, which the higher social support led to lower depression, and among the subcategories of social support, the family support was the most influential factor to depression. Third, social support had moderation effect between meaning of life and depression. In other words, the higher the level of social support is, the better it helped to overcome the depression through the experience of meaning of life. When integrating the above results, the meaning of life and social support affected depression of the elderly, and social support had its moderation effect between meaning of life and depression of the elderly.
