We report the case of an 18-year-old male with sudden muscular weakness of both lower limbs without neurologic deficits. Laboratory studies revealed a low potassi니m, low thyroid stimulating hormone, and high thyroxine levels. The thyroid radioiodine uptake (99mTc) was 0.8%. The most common cause of thyrotoxic periodic paralysis is Graves’ disease, but the patient was diagnosed with hypokalemic periodic paralysis associated with painless thyroiditis. He was observed, and the muscle weakness regressed completely after the potassi니m level was normalized.
