한국 노인의 비만과 우울증, 뇌졸중 간에 관련성

Relationship between Obesity, Depression and Stroke in Korean Elderly

급속한 인구 고령화에 따른 노인들의 건강 및 복지 문제가 주요한 사회 문제로 대두되고 있다. 노인 비만과 우울증, 뇌졸중 간 관련성을 분석하여 노인 건강 관리와 정책을 위한 기초지식 생산에 기여하고자 한다. 독립변수 비만, 종속변수 우울증, 뇌졸중, 교란변수 성별, 교육수준, 흡연을 고려하여 대상자의 일반적 특성은 빈도와 백분율로 나타내고 일반적 특성과 비만, 우울증, 뇌졸중의 통계적 유의성을 알아보기 위해 카이 스퀘어 검정을 통해 p값을 도출 하였다. 비만과 우울증, 뇌졸중의 연관성을 살펴보기 위해 유의한 분포의 차이를 나타낸 성별, 교육수준, 흡연여부를 고려하여 다변량 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 노인 비만은 여성과 흡연자에게서, 우울증은 여성, 흡연자 및 학력수준이 낮은 사람에서, 뇌졸중의 경우 학력수준이 낮은 사람에게서 유병률이 유의하게 높았다. 뇌졸중은 비만 노인이 정상체중 노인에 비해 위험이 더 높았고, 이는 특히 흡연자에게서 더 높은 위험도의 상승을 보였다. 노인 비만은 중, 장년층에서와 마찬가지로 치료해야 할 문제이며 향후 노인 비만에 대한 더 많은 연구를 통해 노인 비만의 진단 기준과 치료법이 제시되어야 할 것이다.

Due to the population rapidly ageing, health and welfare of the elderly have recently emerged as main social issues. Thus, this study aims to contribute to producing basic knowledge on health management and policies for the elderly, by analyzing the correlation between geriatric obesity, depression and stroke. Particularly, by considering obesity as an independent variable, depression and stroke as dependent variables and gender, educational level and smoking as confounding variables, this study expressed the subjects’ general characteristics into frequency and percentage, and find out the statistical significance between general characteristics, obesity, depression and stroke, this study derived the P-value from chi-square test. The results can be summarized as follows; The prevalence of geriatric obesity was significantly high in women and smokers, that of depression in women, smokers and low education-level people, and that of stroke in low educational-level people. The stroke risk was higher in obese elderly people than normal-weight elderly people, and it became much higher especially when they were smokers. advanced diagnostic criteria and treatments for geriatric obesity should be provided through more future studies on obesity in the elderly.
