청소년의 사회적 위축과 우울의 관계에서 조절초점의 매개역할

Mediating role of Regulatory focus on the relationship between Social inhibition and Depression of Adolescent

본 논문의 목적은 청소년의 사회적 위축과 우울의 관계가 조절초점(향상초점, 예방초점)에 의해 매개되는지를 확인하는데 있었다. 이를 위해 부산에 위치한 두 곳의 고등학교 재학생 155명(남 75, 여 80)을 대상으로 자료를 수집·분석하였다. 설문지는 D유형 성격척도의 하위 척도인 사회적 위축(social inhibition) 척도 및 조절초점(regulatory focus) 척도, 역학연구우울 척도(CES-D) 등으로 구성되었다. 자료분석은 신뢰도, 기술통계분석, 상관분석은 SPSS 23.0으로 이루어졌고 매개분석은 Hayes의 SPSS macro을 사용해 이루어졌다. 분석 결과, 첫째 사회적 위축과 우울, 사회적 위축과 예방초점, 예방초점과 우울은 정적 상관이 유의하였고 향상초점과 우울은 부적 상관이 유의하였다. 둘째, 예방초점만 사회적 위축과 우울의 관계를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 다시 말해서, 사회적 위축이 우울에 직접적으로도 영향을 미치고 예방초점을 통해 간접적으로도 영향을 미쳤다. 이 결과는 우울로 고생하는 청소년을 돕기 위한 중재프로그램을 구성할 때 고등학생의 성격특성과 함께 지향하는 목표방향도 고려해야 함을 제안한 것으로 볼 수 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 한계와 시사점, 추후 연구에 대해 논하였다.

The current study aimed to examine the mediating relation of regulatory focus between social inhibition and depression. To this purpose, data was collected and analyzed from 155 high school students(75 men, 80 women) in two high schools in Busan. The questionnaire was consisted of Social Inhibition scale(one of subscales of D type Personality Inventory), regulatory Focus Scale, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression(CES-D) scale. Basic analysis of the data was on descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and reliability by using SPSS, and mediation effect was conducted by using PROCESS, developed by Hayes. The results of the study were as follows. first, social inhibition was positively correlated with prevention focus and depression and promotion focus was negatively correlated with depression. Second, prevention focus was partially mediated between social inhibition and depression. In other words, social inhibition was directly and indirectly related to depression via prevention focus. This result suggested that designing intervention program for assistance of high school students with depression, it would be focused on not only one’s personality traits but also one’s goal orientation. Finally, implication and limitations were discussed on these results, and future research was suggested.
