노인의 사회적 배제에 관한 연구

A Study on Social Exclusion of the Elderly

사회적 배제는 다양한 차원에서의 소외 개념을 포함하는 것으로 여러 가지 측면에서의 열악한 여건을 의미한다. 사회적 배제의 최우선적 고려 대상은 노인으로서, 노인의 사회적 배제는 정치경제사회심리 등 다양한 측면에서 나타날 수 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 노인의 사회적 배제 유형을 경제적 배제, 정치적 배제, 사회적 관계에서의 배제, 심리적 배제로 분류하여 노인들의 사회적 배제 실태를 파악해 보고, 노인의 우울정도를 측정하여 사회적 배제와 우울감과의 관련성을 함께 파악해보고자 하였다. 연구결과 대다수 노인들이 빈곤한 상황으로 경제적 배제를 겪고 있으며, 주관적 빈곤감에 비해 상대적 빈곤감이 더 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 정치적 배제에 있어서는 노인들의 활동 폭이 넓지 않으며, 소극적 참여에 그치고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 사회적 관계에서의 배제는 배우자와 성인자녀와의 관계 만족도가 비슷하게 나타났으며, 친구에 비해 이웃과의 관계 만족도가 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 심리적 배제를 소외감으로 보고 측정한 결과에서는 노인 스스로 소외되고 무시당하는 느낌을 받는 것으로 나타나 심리적 배제를 겪고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 한편 노인들은 여성일수록, 70대의 노인들이, 배우자가 없는 경우, 만성질환이 있는 경우 우울감이 더 큰 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 배제 요인 가운데 상대적 빈곤감을 갖고 있는 경우, 이웃과의 관계가 좋지 않은 경우, 소외감을 느끼는 경우 우울감이 더 큰 것으로 분석되었다.

Social exclusion refers to poor conditions as alienation at various levels. The primary consideration of social exclusion is the elderly, which appears in various aspects such as economic, political and social psychology. Accordingly, this study classified social exclusion into economic exclusion, political exclusion, exclusion from social relations, and psychological exclusion. In addition, the depression of the elderly was measured to examine the association with social exclusion. The results show that the majority of the elderly suffer from economic exclusion, and the relative poverty is greater than the subjective poverty. In political exclusion, the elderly were not widely active and were only passive participation. The exclusion of social relations showed similar satisfaction with the relationship between spouse and adult children, and higher satisfaction with neighbors than friends. In psychological exclusion, the elderly were found to feel alienated and ignored. On the other hand, women aged 70, no spouses, and chronic illnesses were more depressed. The social exclusion factor was found to be more depressive in the case of relative poverty, poor relationship with neighbors, and alienation.
