Purpose: This study aimed to investigate delayed development of language and sociality of children from multicultural families in small city and agricultural area comparing with children from Korean families in the same area. Method: This is quantitative research that was designed to assess language and social development with 81 children from multicultural families(MC group) and a comparison group of 99 Koreans families(K group). They were tested Korea-Aged and Stage Questionnaires (K-ASQ) items from March, 2016 to Feb. 2017 in N small city and agricultural areas. Results: The main result reveals that: First, MC group from 3 years to 5 years old scored significantly lower than K group in language development. Next, the MC group from 2 years to 5 years old scored significantly lower than K group in social development. Last, the total language scores and social scores of K-ASQ showed positive correlations significantly. Conclusion: This study confirmed preschool children from multicultural families with possible delayed development and delayed stages in small city and agricultural areas. Therefore suggested the necessity for intervention program to prevent potential development delays for preschool children from multicultural families.
