Drug resistant gastric cancer cells and their resistant mechanisms

Gastric cancer is the second leading cause of death from malignant disease over the world. The combination chemotherapies have been empirically selected without considering drug resistance. Therefore, it is necessary that we have to think about rationales of combination chemotherapies on the basis of drug resistance. A large number of cancer cells have been selected for resistance to various drugs and characterized with respect to drug resistant mechanisms for long time. Nevertheless, there is so far no review that has summarized human drug resistant gastric cancer cells and their resistant mechanisms in details. Here we summarize drug resistant gastric cancer cells with references in terms o f tissue origin, publication year, nationality of an author, names of parental and drug resistant cells, resistance fold if possible and selecting drugs, and then discuss resistant mechanisms.
