A Case of Unilateral Maxillaiy Sinusitis Developed after Dental Implant

Recently, dental implant is frequently performed in dentistry. It can give rise to complications such as maxillary sinusitis, oroantral fistula, displacement of implants and others. Among these complications, maxillary sinusitis is one of the severe complication, which is being reported to occur rarely. The complications of dental implant are often accompanied by gingival swelling, pain, fistula and other symptoms, for which immediate therapeutic measures may be implemented. The clinical diagnosis of sinusitis after dental implant is confirmed by radiologic findings and clinical symptoms. It can be treated with medical and surgical therapy. The authors experienced a case with unilateral maxillary sinusitis developed after dental implant performed at the dental clinic, which was alleviated by performing endoscopic sinus surgery. By reporting this case, we aimed to call attention to the complications of sinusitis and consider implant displacement in suspicious cases of acute maxillary sinusitis.
