Purpose: To report a case of high altitude retinopathy developed after climbing the Himalaya mountain. Case summaiy: A 33-year-old man climbed up the Himalaya mountain beyond 5000m without oxygen tank for 40 days and then climbed down a mountain and then experienced a sudden visual disturbance. Best corrected visual acuity in right eye was 0.08. On fundus examination it shows retinal hemorrhage at fovea accompanying with yellowish discoloration and mild venous tortuosity. No other specific disorder except mild elevation of hematocrit (52.3%) and hemoglobin (18.2g/dl) was seen. He recovered normal vision with treatment of anti-inflammatory agent and aspirin.
