  • 188

The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of the narratives of young children in creating a story through picture books. Data were collected between October 8th and November 30th, 2018 and the collected data include a research journal and a story note made by young children. The results of the study are as follows. This study finds that the narrative of children is categorized into three different processes: meeting with the main character of the picture book, reproducing the experiences of my life and finding a solution in the story. The young children copied the story of picture books while building their own world of stories. They also reconstructed the contents by connecting their experiences. In addition, they made stories richer through imaginative narratives using various words. Through these studies, creating a story through picture books provided the young children with an incentive to make stories and a chance to develop into story writers by continuing their interests.
