초등영어에서 글로벌 문화 교육 강화를 위한 인식 연구

A Study of English Teachers’ Perception on Empowering Global Culture Education

본 논문의 목적은 2015년 개정교과과정 초등영어 교과 내 글로벌 문화 요인을 파악하고 교사들의 인식을 조사하여 글로벌 문화 교육을 강화하기 위한 제언을 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 12명의 영어교사들을 대상으로 한 기초 조사가 설문을 통해 이루어 졌으며 동시에 10명의 영어교육 전문가로 구성된 델파이 조사가 1, 2차에 걸쳐 진행되었다. 연구결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 글로벌 문화 교육은 글로벌 사람들과의 원활한 의사소통을 위한 언어적 능력과 타문화에 대한 이해와 관심, 존중과 배려 역량을 키우는 것으로, 목표로 국제공용어(lingua franca)로서의 영어의 중요성을 인식하고 타문화에 대한 공감, 즉 상호 문화 능력을 신장시키는 것을 목표로 삼아야 한다. 둘째, 글로벌 문화 교육에 필요한 언어 기능은 네 가지 기능의 통합과 교실 내 이루어지는 학습과 실제 생활과의 매칭을 고려해야 하며, 셋째, 글로벌 문화 교육의 소재는 글로벌 에티켓을 포함하는 의식주, 관습과 규범, 가치관과 도덕성과 같은 요인들에 초점을 맞추는 것이 필요하다. 넷째, 글로벌 문화 교육을 위한 교재 및 도구는 교과서 중심의 일반적인 수업에서 멀티미디어를 보조도구로 적극 활용하는 것이 효과적일 수 있다. 끝으로, 글로벌 문화 교육의 평가는 일제고사 즉 단순 결과로서의 평가가 아니라 관찰 · 수행평가 등 과정중심평가 위주로 진행되는 것이 바람직하다고 할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study aims to identify global cultural components in the current national curriculum revised in 2015, as well as to investigate English teachers’ perception on empowering global culture education. In order to answer those questions, a basic survey was distributed to 12 in-service English teachers and a in-depth survey was twice administerd to a delphi group who consisted of the experts of English education. The results revealed as follows. First, global cultural education needs to be integrated in the English curriculum to facilitate English proficiency as well as to promote cross-cultural awareness. Second, the language teaching method needs to be whole language teaching which enables the connection of the learning in-and outside the class. Third, the main topics for the global culture education should include the global etiquette factors such as food, clothing, shelter, customs, norms, values, and ethics. Fourth, it would be effective to use multimedia as a teaching aid, along with the textbook. Finally, the assessment for the global culture education should be geared toward to observational assessment, not the standardized written one.
