평화교육 실천가들의 내러티브를 통한 평화교육의 의미 탐색

A Study on the Meaning of Peace Education through Narratives of Peace Education Activists

최근 들어 평화에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 그러나 현실을 평화롭다고 이야기하는 것은 여전히 불편함으로 다가온다. 사람들의 관심 속에 지속적으로 언급되었던 평화를 우리의 삶 속에 구현하려는 대표적인 운동이 바로 평화교육이다. 이 연구는 문헌 검토와 평화교육 실천가의 내러티브를 통해 평화교육의 의미를 탐색하고, 교육현장에서 평화교육이 어떻게 구현되는지 살피는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 ‘평화교육은 학문적으로 어떻게 정의되고 있는가?’, ‘평화교육 실천가들은 평화교육을 어떻게 내면화하고 실천 현장에서 구현하고 있는가?’라는 연구 문제로 논의를 진행했다. 연구 결과, 학문적으로 정의된 평화교육은 평화의 다양한 개념들을 실천하는 과정으로 정리할 수 있었고, 실천가들의 경험을 통해 정의된 평화교육은 개인적인 부분 및 관계성을 중심으로 표현되고 있었다. 또한 실천가들은 평화교육을 하나의 개념으로 정의하는데 불편함을 가지고 있었고, 일상 속에서 평화 상황을 찾으려 노력하고 있었다.

Recently, attention on peace is increasing. However, it is still difficult to say that the reality is peaceful. Peace education is a representative movement for realizing peace that has been continuously mentioned among people in our daily lives. This study aims to explore the meaning of peace education through the literature and experiences of activists and to see how peace education is performed in the field. Therefore, we discussed the following research problems : ‘how did peace education been defined academically?’, And ‘how do peace education activists internalize peace education and practice in practice?’ The results of the study are as follows. Academically defined peace education can be summarized as a process of practicing various concepts of peace. And Peace education activists defined through the experiences of activists was expressed around individual parts and relationships. Activists were also uncomfortable in defining peace education as a concept. And trying to find a peaceful situation in their daily lives.
