본 연구는 정신질환에 대한 낙인과 정신의학적 약물치료 태도의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 자아존중감이 매개하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 A 광역시에 위치한 관내 주민센터를 이용한 일반 지역주민에게 설문지를 배부하였고, 총 705명의 사례가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 주요 변인들간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 상관관계 분석을 실시하였고, 사회적 지지와 자아존중감이 정신질환에 대한 낙인과 정신의학적 약물치료 태도 간의 관계에서 매개하는지를 알아보기 위하여 매개모형 검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정신질환에 대한 낙인은 정신의학적 약물치료 태도에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 동시에 사회적 지지와 자아존중감으로 매개로 하여 간접적으로도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정신질환에 대한 낙인과 정신의학적 약물치료 태도의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 자아존중감이 부분 이중 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.
This study examined the mediating effects of social support and self-esteem on the link between the stigma of mental illness and the attitude towards psychiatric medication treatment. Structural equation modeling of data from 705 metropolitan area residents indicated that the link between the stigma surrounding mental illness and the attitude towards psychiatric medication treatment was partially mediated by social support and self-esteem. This suggests that the stigma towards mental illness directly affects the attitude towards psychiatric medication treatment. Further, that social support and self-esteem may reduce the negative attitude towards psychiatric medication treatment. Implications, limitations, and suggestions for future study are discussed.
