본 연구는 중년남성의 성역할갈등과 심리적 불편감과의 관계에서 정서표현양가성이 매개하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 전북 지역에 거주하는 40∼50대의 중년 남성 319명을 대상으로 성역할갈등 척도, 심리적 불편감 척도, 정서표현양가성 척도를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료들을 바탕으로 구조방정식모형 검증 및 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 중년남성의 성역할갈등, 정서표현양가성, 심리적 불편감은 모두 정적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 구조방정식모형을 통한 자료 분석 결과 측정모형이 자료에 적합한 것으로 나타났으며, 정서표현양가성이 성역할갈등과 심리적 불편감 간의 관계를 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의 하였다.
The present study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of ambivalence on emotional expressiveness in the relation between gender role conflict and psychological distress. 319 middle-aged men were recruited for this study. Questionnaires were utilized to measure their perceptions of gender role conflict, psychological distress, and ambivalence over emotional expressiveness. Responses were analyzed via correlational analyses and structural equation modeling and were as follows: First, gender role conflict, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness, and psychological distress showed a positive correlation. Second, ambivalence over emotional expressiveness fully mediated the relationship between gender role conflict and psychological distress. Finally, implications, limitations and the suggestions for future study are discussed.
