Functional Assessment for Challenging/Problem Behaviors (FAPB): Development and Validation

발달장애인들은 자해, 공격, 파괴 등 다양한 문제행동을 보인다. 문제행동의 기능파악을 위해서는 직접 관찰에 의한 기능평가가 가장 권장되나, 전문가의 부재와 시간과 비용 측면에서 효율적이지 못하다. 본 연구는 발달장애인의 문제행동의 기능을 평가하는 간접평가도구인 문제행동 기능평가 설문도구를 개발하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 3개 연구로 구성되어 있는데, 연구 1에선 기존의 도구와 환자/가족/전문치료사의 집중면담을 통해 일차 설문문항을 개발하였고, 연구 2에선 두 차례의 파일럿 분석을 통하여 예비척도 문항을 확정하였다. 연구 3에서 탐색적 요인분석을 시행한 결과(N=377), 문제행동 기능은 6요인 구조를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 하위요인들은 요구, 자기자극, 신체적 상태, 강박 및 통제, 회피, 그리고 관심으로 명명되었으며 각각 4문항씩 총 24문항이 도출되었다. 타당도 검증을 위한 확인적 요인분석(N=377)을 실시한 결과, 척도의 추출된 6요인 구조는 적합한 것으로 확인되었다. 이 과정을 통해 최종적으로 개발된 도구인 행동원인규명척도(Functional Assessment for Challenging/Problem Behaviors; FAPB)는 적절한 내적일치도와 검사-재검사 신뢰도를 보였으며 기존 기능평정척도인 QABF와의 하위 척도간 상관도 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 국내 발달장애인의 문제행동 기능을 평정하기에 심리측정적으로 양호한 도구인 FAPB의 이론적 및 임상적 의의에 대해 논의하였다.

Individuals with developmental disabilities often display problem behaviors such as self-injurious behaviors, aggressions, and destructions. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Functional Assessment for Challenging/Problem Behaviors (FAPB). In study 1, several interviews with patients, families, and therapists were conducted; the initial pool of items were developed from these interview results as well as existing measures. In study 2, a preliminary analysis was conducted twice and items were reduced to 70. In study 3, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted which yielded six factors: ‘demand’, ‘self-stimulation’, ‘physical state’, ‘obsession and control’, ‘avoidance’ and ‘attention’. Each factor consisted of 4 items, constructing a total of 24 items. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted and confirmed the six-factor model with good fit indices. Finally, the FAPB showed good internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and convergent validity. Theoretical and clinical implications are discussed.
