초등수학에서 삼각형의 작도 지도에 관한 논의

Discussion on teaching construction of triangle in elementary mathematics

이 연구는 초등학교 수학에서 삼각형의 작도 내용이 삭제된 과정을 살펴보고 삼각형의 작도 지도가 왜 필요한지에 대해 논의를 하려고 하는 것이다. 초등학교에서의 삼각형의 작도는 4차 교육과정에서 도입되어 2007 개정 교육과정까지 계속 지도되었다. 2009 개정 교육과정에서 삼각형의 작도가 삭제되었으며, 그럼에도 불구하고 교과서에서는 지도되다가 2015 개정 교육과정에서 교과서에서도 완전히 삭제되었다. 연구자는 초등학교에서의 삼각형의 작도는 삼각형의 결정조건이라는 지식과 자와 각도기, 컴퍼스를 다루는 기능, 그리고 수학적 사고력을 기를 수 있는 매우 유용한 수학적 소재임을 논의한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the decision-making process of eliminating triangle construction and to discuss why it is necessary to teach triangle construction in elementary mathematics. The construction of triangles in elementary school was introduced in the 4th curriculum and continued until the 2007 revised curriculum in Korea. Triangle construction was removed from the 2009 revised curriculum, and completely removed from textbooks published under the 2015 revised curriculum. In this paper, I claim that triangle construction is necessary for discovering the conditions determining triangles, and it is a very useful mathematical material for developing ability to manage rulers, protractors, and compasses, and developing mathematical thinking.
