본 연구의 목적은 정신장애인의 증상과 삶의 만족의 관계에서 사회적 지지의 조절효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 2011년 장애인실태조사를 활용하여 정신장애인 58,459명을 대상으로 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 정신장애인의 증상이 삶의 만족에 미치는 영향관계에서 사회적 지지가 조절효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 사회적 지지를 받는 정신장애인이 그렇지 않은 정신장애인에 비해 증상정도가 높아져도 삶의 만족도의 감소정도가 적은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 정신장애인들의 사회적 지지를 향상시킬 수 있는 함의에 대해 논의하였다.
The purpose of this study is to examine whether social supports moderate the relationship between symptom and life satisfaction among persons with mental illness. Secondary data of 58,459 individuals with mental illness from the “2011 Disabled survey” by Ministry of Health and Welfare was analyzed. Hierarchical moderated multiple regression was used to assess the moderating effect of social supports on the relationship between symptom and life satisfaction. Findings showed that social support interacts with symptoms and influences life satisfaction among persons with mental illness. Results also suggested that social support has a buffering effect against symptoms associated with life satisfaction. Implication and limitations of this study are discussed.
