본 연구는 경쟁 회피 성향을 측정하기 위한 Ryckman, Thornton과 Gold(2009)의 경쟁 회피 척도(Competition Avoidance Scale)를 번안하고 대학생을 대상으로 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하였다. 이를 위하여 총 370명의 전라남․북도 지역의 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 그 결과를 요인분석 및 신뢰도 분석, 상관분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 탐색적 요인 분석 결과 한국판 경쟁 회피 척도는 원 척도와 마찬가지로 단일 요인 구조가 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 총 22문항 중 요인부하량이 낮은 4문항을 제외하고 최종적으로 18문항이 선정되었다. 둘째, 한국판 경쟁 회피 척도의 내적 합치도(Cronbach’s α)는 .90으로 나타났으며, 검사-재검사 신뢰도는 .91로 나타나 만족스러운 신뢰도 수준을 보였다. 셋째, 상관 분석 결과 한국판 경쟁 회피 척도는 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움 및 자기 구실 만들기 전략과 유의미한 정적 상관을 보임으로써 수렴 타당도를 확인 할 수 있었고, 과잉 경쟁 태도 척도와는 유의미한 상관을 보이지 않음으로써 변별 타당도가 입증 되었다. 또한 신경증 경향성 척도와는 정적 상관관계가 확인되었고, 삶의 만족도 척도와는 부적 상관관계가 확인되었다. 마지막으로 경쟁 회피 척도의 활용성 및 본 연구의 제한점을 논의하였다.
This study adapted the ground of the Competition Avoidance Scale and examined the reliability and validation subject to the testing group of students. To look at the relationship between the competition avoidance scale and its criterion-related scale it has conducted some examinations to the testing group of 370 college students(M=21.2 ages) such as Competition Avoidance Scale, Hypercompetitiveness Attitude Scale, Self-Handicapping Scale, Brief-Fear of Negative Evaluation, Eysenck Personality Scale, The Satisfaction with Life Scale. The exploratory factor analysis results provided support for the one-factor structure of the Competition Avoidance Scale. Secondly, Cronbach’s scored meaningful level came into .90 and re-research .91. Third, As a result of convergent validity on correlation analysis, Competition Avoidance Scale had been proved by relating to significant correlation with Brief-Fear of Negative Evaluation and Self-Handicapping Scale.
