중학생의 자살생각과 자살시도에 영향을 미치는 위험요인과 보호요인: 성차를 중심으로

Risk and Protective Factors for Suicide that Affect Middle School Students Suicidal Ideation and Attempts: Focusing on Gender Difference

본 연구는 자살위험요인과 자살보호요인이 청소년의 자살생각과 자살시도에 미치는 영향에 대한 성차를 파악하고자 하였다. 부산 경남지역의 중학생 843명으로부터 자료를 수집하여 t-test, 상관관계 분석과 중다회귀분석을 사용하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우울, 자살생각, 자살시도는 남학생보다 여학생이 많았으나, 학교따돌림은 남학생이 여학생보다 많았다. 둘째, 남?여학생 모두 자살위험요인은 자살생각, 자살시도와 정적인 상관이 있었으며, 보호요인은 자살생각, 시도와 부적인 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 자살생각에 미치는 변인은 남학생의 경우 우울, 학교따돌림과 가족지지로 나타난 반면 여학생은 우울, 학교따돌림, 자아존중감, 친구지지, 가족지지, 교사지지 변인이 영향을 미쳤다. 자살시도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 남학생은 자살생각이, 여학생은 우울과 자살생각이 영향을 미쳤다.

The study investigates risk and protective factors of adolescent’s suicidal ideation and attempts. 843 first and second years of middle school student living in Busan and Gyeongnam area participated. Data on their depression, school bullying experience, suicidal ideation, self-esteem and social support were analyzed based on t-test, correlation, and multiple regression analyses. The findings were as follows. First, female students showed a higher frequency in depression, suicidal ideation and attempts while male students showed a higher frequency in school bullying. No gender differences were identified in self-esteem and support from teachers and family. Second, a positive correlation between suicidal risk factors and suicidal ideation and attempts was found in both male and female group. A negative correlation between protective factors and suicidal ideation and attempts was found in both male and female group. Third, variables affecting suicidal ideation for male students were depression, school bullying, and family support, while those for female participants were depression, school bullying, self-esteem, and support from friends, family and teachers. The variable affecting a suicidal attempt for male students was suicidal thoughts while those for female students were depression and suicidal thoughts.
