The purpose of this research study is to investigate the psychological characteristics of children brought up in mono-cultural families and of those brought up in multi-cultural families. This was done by asking the subject children to make a Kinetic School Drawing(KSD) and then analyzing the results. A total of 262 elementary school students between the ages of 9 and 11 were selected for this study. The result were as follows: First, Meaningful differences were observed in the following subcategories of personal behavior; study, abuser-victim relationships and self love. Second Meaningful differences were observed in the subcategories of a how person is physically represented in the picture. These included degree of physical perfection, the pressure of the brush and line realm. Third Meaningful differences were observed in the subcategories of relationship dynamics. These included; image omissions of self, teachers or friends, the direction of sight among characters and the size of characters. Fourth, We did not observe any meaningful differences in style. Fifth, A meaningful difference was noted in terms of the symbols used in the drawings. The children from mono-cultural families were observed to depict themselves and their friends having sharp objects, books, and/or notebooks. However children from multi-cultural families tended to draw other objects distinct from the aforementioned symbols.
