A Study of Juvenile Psychological Adjustment by Cross-Sectional Technique : Research at junior and senior schools in Taegu, Naha and Jilin

East Aisaian countries including Korea and China have been changing economically and culturally in these 20 years. These abrupt social changes have caused various kinds of juvenile problems such as violence, crime, suicide, school-refusal and Ijima which is prevailed in Japan. This study aimed to clarify the psychological maladaptive tendency of junior and senior high school students in Korea(n=731), Japan(n=500) and China(n=384). The results revealed that each country had specific juvenile maladptive problems as follows. Korean youth had intimate relationship with friends and weakness in their superego. It might develop their antisocial behavior. Japanese youth had a maladaptive tendency in their school-life. The relationship between students and teachers was not stable and reliable. And they had a difficulty to control their own emotion. Chinese youth showed that they were experiencing rebellious age. They were assertive but less confident. The authors named that Korean were protected youth , Japanese were double-faced youth , Chinese were traditional youth .
