Team approach is required for the qualitative improvement of special education. The purpose of this study was to review the importance of team approach, to investigate interrelated problems between special education teachers in special schools and social workers in the institutions, and to search the improvement strategies. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, team approach has been stressed on for a long period of time, and are considered to be helpful for improvement of an academic and social competence of children with disabilities. Second, the problems of team approach between special teachers and social workers seems to be a lack of understanding each other. Third, the improvement strategies are suggested. Included are to provide inservice programs for professional qualities of both special teachers and social workers, to organize network systems for cooperation of schools and institutions, to reduce the burden of their work, to improve the status of social workers, to enlarge the opportunity of their communications, and finally to suggest the necessity of the appropriate teachers training programs.
