TIMSS 과학 평가틀과 우리나라 과학과 교육과정에서의 에너지 관련 목표 비교

Comparison of Energy Related Goals in TIMSS Science Assessment Frameworks and Korean Science Curriculum

본 연구에서는 TIMSS 2015와 TIMSS 2019 과학 평가틀, 그리고 우리나라의 2009 개정 및 2015 개정 과학과 교육과정에서의 에너지 관련 목표를 분석하고 비교하였다. 첫째, TIMSS 2015와 2019의 4학년 과학 평가틀 중 에너지와 관련된 평가 목표는 생명과학과 물상과학 영역에서 제시되었고, 지구과학 영역에서는 나타나지 않았다. TIMSS 8학년 과학 평가틀의 네 영역은 모두 에너지 관련 목표를 포함하고 있었다. 둘째, 우리나라 과학과 교육과정에서는 초등의 경우, 2009 및 2015 개정 모두 지구와 우주 영역만 에너지 관련 성취목표를 다루고 있었고, 2015 개정 교육과정에서는 ‘에너지와 생활’이라는 통합 단원을 통하여 에너지를 다루고 있었다. 중학교에서는 생명과학, 물리, 화학 영역에서는 2009와 2015에서 유사하게 에너지 관련 성취기준을 제시하고 있는 반면, 2015 개정 교육과정에서는 지구과학 영역 및 통합 단원에서는 에너지 관련된 성취 기준은 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 에너지 관련 목표를 중심으로 TIMSS 2019 과학 평가틀과 2015 개정 과학과 교육과정을 비교한 결과, 물리와 화학 영역에서는 TIMSS 2019에서의 에너지 관련 내용을 대부분 다루고 있는 것에 반하여, 생명과학의 생태계 요소에서의 에너지 흐름 및 지구과학 영역에서 다루고 있는 다양한 에너지원과 지구 자원으로서의 다양한 에너지 관련된 내용은 우리나라 과학과 교육과정의 중학교 과정에는 포함되어 있지 않았다.

This study compared energy related goals in TIMSS 2015, TIMSS 2019 science framework, and Korean science curriculum revised in 2009 and 2015. Research findings are as follows. First, energy related goal in 4th grade’s science framework of TIMSS 2015 and TIMSS 2019 were included in biological science and physical science, but not in earth science. In 8th grade’s science framework, energy related goals were appeared in 4 area of science. Second, in elementary level, energy related goals were appeared in earth science in 2009 and 2015 revised science curriculum. In 2015 revised curriculum, integrated science is also has energy related goals. In middle school level, energy related goals were not appeared in biological science, chemistry, and physics. In 2015 revised curriculum, the goals were not included in earth science and integrated science units. Third, energy related goals in the area of chemistry and physics in TIMSS 2019 were appeared in 2015 revised science curriculum. However, energy flow in ecosystem in biological science area, and various energy sources, energy as resources of the earth in earth science area were not appeared in 2015 revised science curriculum.
