Artificial Intelligence-based Digital Literacy’s Goals and Contents for Primary English Language Learners - Focused on Climate Change and Sustainability -

본 연구의 목적은 초등영어학습자를 위한 인공지능 기반 디지털 리터러시를 함양하기 위해 기후와 지속가능성에 초점을 둔 교육과정의 목표 및 내용 체계를 제안하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 2015 영어과 교육과정, 미국의 CCSS, 영국의 교육과정, 싱가포르의 교육과정 등을 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 반영하여 교육과정의 목표를 설정하고, 교육과정의 내용을 화제, 디지털 도구, 성취기준별로 나누어 설정하였다. 최근, 영어학습자는 문화가 다른 사람들과 효과적이고 적절하게 소통하고 협력하여 주어진 과제나 문제를 창의적으로 해결해 나갈 수 있는 문화 간 의사소통능력을 강조하고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 학습자들이 디지털 도구를 사용하여 기후와 지속가능성과 연관된 표현들을 조사하여 읽고, 비판적으로 사고하면서 동료들과 주어진 문제를 창의적으로 해결하는 실천력을 갖도록 인공지능 기반 디지털 리터러시의 목표 및 내용을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to suggest goals and contents of curricula for improving English language learners’(ELLs) digital literacy related to climate change and sustainability. To achieve the purpose, curricula around the world were analyzed in the aspect of goals and contents of the digital literacy. The results of analysing the curricula were applied to develop goals and contents of digital literacy related to climate change and sustainability. In this paper, it was suggested that (a) ELLs have attitude of actively accessing to information about climate change and sustainability with curiosity, and collaborate with others to complete given tasks with respect and empathy by using digital tools, (b) have knowledge and skills of searching for and interpreting information about climate change and sustainability, and interacting and collaborating with others for completing tasks about them using digital tools, and (c) have implementation force of challenging real world issues about climate change and sustainability, and practicing to solve problems creatively in collaboration with others using digital tools. Also, topics related to the environmental change and sustainable development were suggested based on the 2015 Revised English National Curriculum and the National Curriculum of the United Kingdom, and accomplishment standards were established in terms of climate change and sustainable development.
