응용행동분석에서의 촉구와 용암법의 유형에 대한 고찰

A Review on the Types of Prompt and Fading in Applied Behavior Analysis

응용행동분석 또는 행동수정과 관련된 저서에서 예외 없이 다루고 있는 개념 중에 ‘촉구’와 ‘용암법’이 있다. 이 두 개념의 정의는 관련저서에서 대체로 일관성 있게 제시되고 있으나 그 유형에 대해서는 저서에 따라 다소 차이가 있다. 이는 촉구와 용암법의 유형별 특성을 근거로 촉구와 용암법을 적절하게 활용하는 데 제한을 가져올 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 관련 국내 저서와 역서를 중심으로 촉구와 용암법의 분류 및 내용을 고찰한 후 결론으로 촉구와 용암법의 유형을 제안해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 촉구는 반응촉구(자극외 촉구)와 자극촉구(자극내 촉구)의 두 개 범주로 분류되는데 반응촉구(자극외 촉구)에는 음성적인 언어적 촉구와 비음성적인 언어적 촉구를 포함하는 언어적 촉구, 동작적 촉구, 모델링 촉구, 신체적 촉구의 네 가지 유형이 있고 자극촉구(자극내 촉구)에는 시각적 촉구와 공간적 촉구의 두 가지 유형이 있다. 둘째, 용암법은 반응촉진법과 자극조절법의 두 개 범주로 분류되는데, 반응촉진법에는 촉구내 용암법, 조력감소와 조력증가를 포함하는 촉구별 용암법, 촉구지연법의 세 가지 유형이 있고 자극조절법에는 자극용암법과 자극형성법의 두 가지 유형이 있다.

There are ‘prompt’ and ‘fading’ among the concepts which are unexceptionally covered in the books related with applied behavior analysis or behavior modification. Definitions of the two concepts are generally consistent across related books; however, their types are somewhat different across the books. This could put limitations on using prompt and fading appropriately based on the individual characteristics of these types. Therefore, this study aimed to propose the types of prompt and fading as conclusions after reviewing the classifications and contents of prompt and fading in domestic and translated books. Following were the conclusions of this study. First, prompt is classified into two categories of response prompts(extra-stimulus prompts) and stimulus prompts(within-stimulus prompts); the former includes four types(verbal prompt consisting of vocal verbal prompt and nonvocal verbal prompt, gestural prompt, modeling prompt, and physical prompt) and the latter includes two types(visual prompt and spatial prompt). Second, fading is classified into two categories of response prompting procedures and stimulus manipulation procedures; the former includes three types(fading within prompt, fading across prompts consisting of decreasing assistance and increasing assistance, and prompt delay) and the latter includes two types(stimulus fading and stimulus shaping).
