초등학교 특수교사를 대상으로 한 미술치료 인식 조사 및 개선방안 연구

A Study on the Recognition and Improvement of Art Therapy for Special Education Teachers in Elementary Schools

본 연구는 초등 특수교육현장에서의 미술치료 운영실태를 파악하였으며, 특수교사들의 특수교육 대상학생의 미술치료에 대한 인식에 대해 알아보고 이를 분석하여 개선방안이 무엇인지 탐색해보았다. 이를 위해 서울 및 인천 지역의 일반 초등학교 특수교사와 특수학교 초등교사 총 130명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였고, 이 중 111명의 설문지를 자료로 사용하였다. 연구 결과 교사들은 미술치료에 대해 알고 있으며 심리적 이완 및 정서안정 등을 목적으로 미술치료가 필요하다고 느끼고 있으나 현재 초등 특수교육에서는 거의 실시하지 않고 있었다. 특수교사들은 미술치료가 학교에서 시행되기에 적절한 자격조건을 가진 치료사를 고용하기 어렵고, 교육과정의 운영 면에서도 재정적인 문제나 전문지식의 부족 등의 이유로 학교에서의 미술치료 시행이 어렵다고 하였다. 본 연구에서 개선방안을 제시한다면 행정적, 재정적 지원이 필요하고, 전문성을 가진 교육에서의 전담 미술치료사가 필요하다고 사료된다. 또한 다양한 홍보를 통한 미술치료 인식개선도 필요하다. 본 연구는 초등 특수교육현장에서의 미술치료 운영실태와 특수교사의 미술치료에 대한 인식을 알리고, 이후 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다. 미술치료가 교육현장에 들어가는 것에 대한 필요성을 밝히고 그 근거가 될 것으로 기대된다.

This study identified the operation status of art therapy in elementary special education sites, to study the special education teachers perceptions of art therapy among students subject to special education and analyze those perceptions to identify an improvement plan. For this, a survey was conducted on a total of 130 teachers from elementary schools in Seoul and Incheon, and 111 completed surveys were used as data. According to the study, teachers are aware of art therapy and feel that art therapy is necessary for psychological relaxation and emotional stability, but such therapy has rarely been performed in elementary school special education. The surveyed teachers reported it being difficult to hire therapists with proper qualifications for art therapy to be implemented in schools, and that it is difficult to implement art therapy in schools due to financial problems or lack of expertise in terms of the operation of the curriculum. The results of this study suggest that presenting improvements in art therapy requires administrative and financial support and a dedicated art therapist in education with expertise. The findings also show that it is necessary to improve awareness of art therapy through various promotions. This study informed the operation status of art therapy and the awareness of the art therapy among special education teachers at elementary special education sites. Limitations of this study and suggestions for further study were also both addressed. It is anticipated that the art therapy will be necessary and be the basis for entering the educational field.
