순천만 흑두루미춤을 추는 경험에 관한 예술 기반 탐구 사례

A Case of Art-based Inquiry on Auto-biographical Dancing Experiences for Hooded Cranes in Suncheon Bay Wetland

이 논문은 순천만의 흑두루미를 주제로 한 몸짓과 춤을 만들어 가는 창작 활동 과정에 대한 자전적 체험을 탐구한 내용을 다루고 있다. 연구자인 ‘나’는 순천만 야외에서 흑두루미를 관찰하고 자발적인 연습 활동에 대하여 비디오를 찍어서 춤을 만들어가는 과정을 거쳐 그 결과물을 철새 및 두루미 관련 학술 심포지움 공간과 야외에서 시연하였다. 예술 기반 연구 방법과 자서전적 내러티브 방법을 혼용하여 나는 창작에 관한 구상, 스토리 전개, 음악, 안무 및 시연에 이르기까지 과정에서 경험한 내면의 상태를 묘사하였다. 자료 수집은 2014년 9월부터 2016년 5월 사이에 걸쳐 창작 과정에 관한 현장 노트, 성찰 메모, 사진, 동영상 및 자전적 기억 자료를 중심으로 이루어졌다. 나는 사진 및 비디오 촬영 자료 등을 토대로 일련의 과정을 네 개의 미니 사례로 제시함으로써 몸에 대한 인식 및 각성, 순천만 생태 환경과 철새를 바라보는 관점의 변화, 흑두루미춤을 창작하는 과정과 공연 경험에서 드러나는 인상적인 부분을 질적으로 묘사하였다. 마지막에 사례 탐구를 통해 흑두루미와 철새 대상으로 춤추기 활동에서 나타나는 특징을 조망하였고 생태와 예술을 연계한 교육 현장에 던지는 시사점을 제시하였다.

This paper dealt with the author’s biographical experiences for mimicking hooded crane behavior in the form of dancing in order to create a new type of dancing performance. I, as a researcher, presented how I got involved with such dancing activities especially in Suncheon Wetland Conservation area and how I developed such a new form of hooded dancing with self-produced video data. Having several performances in both academic workshop and public art center, I conducted autobiographical case study on my own using art-based method and narrative inquiry regarding the creation of a story, choreography work, music selection and performance. Data collection was done between 2015 Sept and 2016 May including field note, reflective memo taking, photos, video clips and self-memory. I presented 4 mini-cases that illustrated the whole ways of perceiving body movements, being aware of the relationships between human beings and migratory birds including hooded cranes, and feeling inner changes during my several solo performances. At the end, I depicted the features of my dancing experiences with hooded cranes and migratory birds, and presented its implications to the educational fields.
