내러티브 탐구에 대한 비교 고찰

Comparative Study on Narrative Inquiry

본 연구는 내러티브 탐구를 문화기술지와 현상학적 연구 방법과 비교 고찰하여 그것의 특징을 이해하고자 한다. 대부분의 질적 연구들은 참여관찰, 심층인터뷰 등 유사한 연구기법을 활용하고 있어 내러티브 탐구가 다른 질적 연구 방법들과 어떻게 다른지 구별하기가 어려워 보인다. 그러나 각각의 질적 연구 방법들은 사회현상을 파악하는 데 고유한 특징 및 장점들이 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 질적 연구 방법의 고유한 특징을 효과적으로 알아보기 위해 각각의 질적 방법이 추구하는 연구대상에 대해 주요하게 살펴보았다. 왜냐하면 연구대상에는 각각의 질적 연구 방법들이 사회현상을 설명하는데 가장 중요한 요소가 무엇인지에 대한 관점이 포함되어 있기 때문이다. 그러고서 본 연구에서는 각각의 질적 연구방법들 간의 연구기법의 차이를 다루었다.

This study conducts an analysis on a narrative inquiry in comparison with ethnography and a phenomenological research method in order to understand characteristics of a narrative inquiry. When it comes to most of the current qualitative researches, they are using all these similar research methods such as participant observation, in-depth interviews and others and, that is what makes it hard for those researches actually to distinguish a narrative inquiry from other qualitative research methods. However, as far as this study assumes, each of the qualitative research methods do have their own characteristics and advantages which they can make good use of to figure things out in relation to social phenomenons. As a consequence, in order to carry out an effective investigation on the original characteristics of the qualitative research methods, this study first took a close look into these research subjects that each of the qualitative methods would pursue because, the study was already aware that in terms of those research subjects, they include these viewpoints which would talk about factors that would make the most significant contribution to each of the qualitative research methods when the methods try to describe social phenomenons. As a next step, the study worked on differences in research techniques of the qualitative research methods.
