Development and application effects of anti-bias curriculum for young children

본 연구는 유아를 위한 반편견 교육과정을 개발하고 현장에 적용하여 효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구목적 달성을 위하여 반편견 교육과정의 개발 절차, 구성, 적용 효과는 어떠한가에 대한 연구문제를 설정하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 유아 반편견 교육과정의 개발 절차는 문헌연구단계, 연구동향분석 및 조사연구단계, 교육과정 시안구성단계, 전문가 협의 및 수정단계, 교육과정 확정단계를 거쳐 개발되었다. 둘째, 교육과정 구성은 타일러의 교육과정 개발 모형에 기초하여 교육목적 및 목표, 교육내용, 교수-학습방법, 평가로 구성되었다. 셋째, 교육과정 적용 효과는 반편견 교육과정을 충청북도 소재 유치원의 만 3세반 학급에 적용한 결과 유아의 편견 감소에 긍정적인 효과가 있다는 것이 검증되었다. 본 연구에서 개발한 유아 반편견 교육과정은 지금까지 국내에서 수행된 반편견 교육 연구에서 초점을 두어왔던 인종과 장애뿐만 아니라 능력, 연령, 외모, 성별, 계층, 문화, 가족구성 등 편견의 다양한 내용을 포괄적으로 다루고 있다. 무엇보다 일반 교육과정에 반편견 교육의 목적과 목표, 교육내용, 교수-학습방법, 평가가 자연스럽게 통합된 반편견 교육과정을 통해 기존 교육과정과 협력적인 체제의 방향을 제시하였다는 것에 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to develop an anti-bias curriculum for young children and to verify its effectiveness by applying it in the field. To achieve the research objectives, research questions on the matter were set up on the development and application of the process, composition, and effects of the anti-bias curriculum. The results of this study were as follows: First, the anti-bias curriculum for young children was developed sequentially through the review of previous literature, the analyses of research trends in those works, the conduction of research, the drafting of a curriculum, consultation with experts, and finally the overall revision and completion of the curriculum. Second, this curriculum was composed of educational objectives and goals, educational content, and teaching-learning methods, and also featured evaluation based on Tyler s curriculum development model. Third, it was verified that the anti-bias curriculum had an effect on reducing prejudice in young children of the ages of 3 by applying the curriculum to a kindergarten class located in Chungcheongbuk-do. The anti-bias curriculum developed in this study covered many types of prejudices such as skill, age, appearance, gender, class, culture, and family composition, as well as race and disabilities, which was covered in previous anti-bias education studies. The anti-bias curriculum developed in this study is significant in that it naturally integrates the purpose and objectives of anti-bias education, the contents of education, the teaching-learning method, and the evaluation of all of this into the general curriculum, providing a direction for cooperation with the existing curriculum.
